EMDR


EMDR
is an acronym for "Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing".

Often more simply known as Adaptive Information Processing.

EMDR is comprehensive, integrative psychotherapy approach. It contains elements of many effective psychotherapies in structured protocols that are designed to maximize treatment effects. These include psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural, humanistic, experiential and body-centred therapies.

EMDR is recognised as being one of the most effective forms of therapy for those suffering from trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD. "All people with PTSD should be offered a course of trauma-focused pyschological treatment eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR)" (Nice Guidelines CG26, 2005).
